On March 14, 2013, Per-Arne Blomquist, CEO of TeliaSonera Group, a major shareholder of Azercell Telecom, and Veysel Aral, CEO of TeliaSonera Eurasian Business Area, visited Baku. During the visit organized by Azercell the guests met Ali Abbasov, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies.
During the meeting P. Blomquist noted that TeliaSonera was able to advance in telecommunication sector thanks to the innovative ideas it offers. Moreover, TeliaSonera represented in Azerbaijan by Azercell will keep on investing in the development of information technologies in the country. CEO of TeliaSonera ranked Azercell as “one of the biggest and most important companies in the Eurasian region”. It was also stated that TeliaSonera will continue offering high quality services in Azerbaijan.
Minister A. Abbasov highly appreciated Azercell’s operation and pointed once again that the company was always known for the latest technologies it introduced. The Minister spoke about an effective partnership between Azercell and the Ministry and projected on available opportunities for broader range of cooperation in the future.
Per-Arne Blomquist was appointed as CEO of TeliaSonera in February. He started his career in telecommunication since 1989 and was appointed as TeliaSonera financial director in 2008, prior to which he worked in different units of the company.

The company with nearly 28 thousand employees is ranked as the largest investor in the telecommunication sector of Eurasia. TeliaSonera is a company offering services starting from the Nordic and Baltic countries all the way to many markets of Eurasia, including Russia and Turkey, as well as Spain and Nepal.
