According to the World Health Organization, about 5 billion people on the planet suffer from dental diseases. It is estimated that nearly 80 percent of the total population in Azerbaijan have dental issues, the majority being children. The situation is especially difficult in this regard for children deprived of parental care. The studies have revealed that there are serious dental issues, particularly in child caring institutions.
Taking into account that 90 percent of orphanages in Azerbaijan have no dental cabinets, “Azercell Telecom” LLC initiated “Mobile Dental Clinic” for children in need on December 15th, 2009, in the 13th year of its operation. “Mobile Dental Clinic”, which is equipped with the most modern medical facilities, provides assistance to children from orphanages, boarding schools, children's villages located in many cities and regions of the country.
Having given a healthy smile to thousands of children throughout their activities, the dentists of the mobile clinic provided checkup and treatment to more than 400 children during the first half of the year. Thus, 100 children in boarding school No. 2 in Ahmadli settlement benefited from these best practice services in January and February. The dentists also provided free medical services to 47 children studying at Khojali district secondary school No. 2 in Pirshaga settlement in March, 76 children getting treatment at children’s health center in Lokbatan settlement in April, 98 children of at the special needs school in Narimanov district in May and 125 children of the special needs school in Sumgayit in June.
It should be mentioned that thousands of people have been examined and treated as needed by the Mobile Dental Clinic during nine years of its operation.
