"Baku Marathon-2024" took place in an exclusive partnership with Azercell
Over 18,000 sports enthusiasts competed to "Win the Wind"
On May 5, the Baku Marathon 2024 took place with the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the exclusive partnership of Azercell. More than 18,000 participants registered for the marathon. Held annually, the Baku Marathon aims to support the development of sports and promote a healthy lifestyle, consistently attracting significant interest and widespread participation.
During the marathon, supported by Azercell, a digital timing technology (timekeepers) was used. These special microchips, affixed to the runners' bibs, provided maximum accuracy in tracking results, allowing for their immediate recording.
The start and finish points of the race were located at the Flag Square. The route of the 21-kilometer marathon covered the Seaside Boulevard as well as the central streets and avenues of the capital.
In the women's race, Nataliya Semenovich from Ukraine claimed the first place. Azerbaijani representative Anna Yusupova finished second, while Nelli Kaitova from Kazakhstan secured the third position. In the men's competition, Ahmet Alkanoglu from Turkey won the first place. Bogdan Semenovich from Ukraine took the second place and was followed by Ismail Senyange from Uganda, who won the third place.
“Azercell Telecom” rewarded the winners with special prizes. In line with tradition, the student participants of the event were also in the spotlight of the mobile operator.
